|1999 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am was a potent year for the Firebird Trans Am. Accepted by many to be the most prestigious Trans Am produced, it was rated at 320 horsepower right out of the box. This is a higher rated horsepower than even the 455 Super Duty. General Motors’ Pontiac Division commemorated 30 years of the Trans Am (which was introduced in 1969) by producing 1,600 special or limited editions called the 30th Anniversary Edition Trans Am. They came in Coupe or Convertible and were fully loaded. These cars were numbered and badged with all kinds of stripes and decals. Even Indianapolis 500 wanted in, making this car the Indy 500 Pace Car for 1999. Every 30th Anniversary is technically and officially an Indy 500 Pace Car replica. The Pace Car Decals (feathers, names, and icons) were so elaborate and costly; they were not included free in the trunk like all previous years of the Indy 500 pace car. Instead they were available for $500 from a source no longer available. Phoenix Graphix offers both the GM original factory standard 30th Anniversary Edition Stripe Kit (used on every car) and also the Indianapolis 500 Pace Car Stripe Kit separately or together at a cost savings. “….Who says muscle starts to sag at 30?….”
